My specialty is working with existing buildings and their owners. I have managed the design, tender and execution of numerous repair projects of all sizes and types. The most challenging and rewarding projects are comprehensive leaky condo remediations. I ensure to not only address the water leaks, but to also provide major improvements to building energy efficiency, thermal performance and ultimately occupant comfort. Other repair project experience includes roof replacements, painting and caulking renewals, and targeted scope repairs.
I work hands-on with Owners and Strata Councils to explain difficult technical concepts in plain terms. I regularly present to Strata Council Meetings and AGMs. Clients value my patience and clear explanations, particularly when dealing with contentious projects.
I also have an extensive portfolio of new construction projects covering all construction types. I leverage my remediation experience to provide solutions which are both inexpensive to implement as well as easy to maintain in the future. I work proactively at the design stage to ensure that the architectural details are not only functional, but also constructible.
My professional work in Building Science began with the preparation of Depreciation Reports and Building Condition Assessments, where I combined my Mechanical Engineering and Construction backgrounds to deliver concise and informative reports. I have a Mechanical Engineering degree from UBC. I hold memberships with the B.C. Building Envelope Council (BCBEC) and the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Division of Engineers and Geoscientists B.C.
